Bringing Holiday Cheer since 2004
The Lowcountry Holiday Spectacular first began in 2004 as the Bluffton Holiday Spectacular at the May River Theatre. Over the years, it grew and eventually moved to the Bluffton High School Auditorium. When the recession hit, we faced the difficult decision to pause this beloved annual tradition.
After COVID, our community was craving joy, connection, and live theatre once again. That’s when we decided to reimagine and relaunch the show—now as the Lowcountry Holiday Spectacular—with fresh branding, a new musical director (Josh Wall), and an all-new energy that brought audiences leaping into the holiday season. In 2024, we were thrilled to welcome nearly sold-out crowds at Hilton Head High School!
Now in our 4th year, we’re bringing a brand-new storyline, an expanded creative team, and even more opportunities for our talented local actors and singers—this time under the direction of Musical Director Melinda Bray.
We can’t wait to share the magic with you—and there are four exciting ways you can be part of it:

Meet the Directors
-
Musical DirectorHaving participated as a cast member the past two years, Melinda is delighted to step into the role of music director for this year’s Lowcountry Holiday Spectacular. She teaches music at Hilton Head School for the Creative Arts, where she directs the chorus and school productions, and she is passionate about using the arts to inspire learning and joy. Melinda has also served as both director and music director for several productions with Main Stage Community Theatre.
The holiday season is one of her favorite times of year, and she is thrilled to help bring festive music, holiday sparkle, and community spirit to the stage. When she’s not in the classroom or at the theatre, you can often find her kayaking, walking the beach, or singing Broadway tunes on road trips.
Melinda is deeply grateful to her colleagues, friends, and family for their love and encouragement. Special thanks to Bluffton School of Dance for inviting her to come along for the ride!
May this season’s music fill your heart with peace, joy, and a little holiday sparkle!

DirectorDawn has been choreographing for local theatre since 2004 and is the Artistic Director and CEO of Bluffton School of Dance. The Lowcountry Holiday Spectacular has a special place in her heart as it combines all the things she loves - dance, theatre and the Holiday Season! And this year she gets to share the experience once again with her family - Ty, Trent, Connie and Penny are all performers!
She would like to acknowledge and thank all the Cast and Crew for their hard work on this show, especially Melinda Bray, Kimberly Reigert, Chris Sykes, Ryan Becker, and the BSOD Faculty (aka the Show’s Choreographers!).
